Ask Allianz to cancel hunting insurance

Allianz Ireland has been asked by ICABS to end its insurance for hunters. "By providing cover to those involved in foxhunting and hare hunting, your company is facilitating the continuation of these cruel activities," we stated.

In a letter to Allianz CEO, Brendan Murphy, ICABS expressed dismay at the company's connection to blood sports.

According to the website of Wexford Insurance: "in conjunction with Allianz PLC we are pleased to announce that we can offer Hunt Liability Insurance for HAI [Hunting Association of Ireland] registered Hunts. This is a tailor made policy providing the widest cover available to all members of the IMFHA [Irish Masters of Foxhounds Association] & IMHA [Irish Masters of Harriers Association] and automatically includes cover for Hunt Balls, Terrier, Hound and Puppy Shows. Extensions are available for Point to Points, Charity Rides & Hunter Trials." -

Allianz has been told about the suffering caused to Irish wildlife by hunters and the fact that most people want such cruelty outlawed.

"It is extremely disappointing that a modern insurance company like Allianz would tarnish its image by associating with those involved in some of Ireland's worst acts of cruelty to animals," we added. "Please show compassion for the creatures that suffer and die in hunting and immediately scrap this cover."
